Albert “Fuzz” Martin

Albert "Fuzz" Martin, age 89, Philip, S.D., died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center in Belle Fourche.
 
  Albert Oscar Martin, better known as Fuzz by his family and friends, was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Rapid City  to Henry and Dena (Bertelson) Martin. He grew up on his parents’ ranch north of Midland and received his education in a rural elementary school, as well as attending high school in Midland. 
 
Albert was a member of the Open Bible Church of Midland. He served, as a corporal, in the U.S. Army from 1951 until June of 1953. After which he was honorably discharged, he served the following six years in the Army Reserves.
 
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Foster Nov. 1, 1953, in Custer. To this union were born nine sons and three daughters.
 
Fuzz bought his dad’s ranch north of Midland and lived there for two years. He then purchased a ranch near Ottumwa, and years later, sold the property. He found and purchased a ranch 30 miles south of Faith, which he later sold to his youngest son, Billy, and wife, Katie. 
 
Fuzz was a highly respected, much loved, Christian man. His gentle, kind and caring spirit was received by everyone he came in contact with. His quick wit and sense of humor brought an instant laugh to all. He loved his family deeply and with his neighbors and friends, was himself. Fuzz’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, Spearfish; 11 children, Jeanie (Boyd) Waara, Philip; Michael (Peg) Martin, North Pole, Alaska; Henry (Terri) Martin, Sundance, Wyo., Rodney Martin, Harrold, Randy (Peggy) Martin, Philip, Jill (Jack) Evans, Colorado Springs, Colo., Kelly (Denise) Martin, Sundance, Wyo., Jay (Julie) Martin, Belle Fourche, Jess (Angela) Martin, Dupree; Jennifer (Jon) Jones, Midland, and Billy (Katie) Martin, Faith; one brother-in-law, Shorty Woitte, Midland; one daughter-in-law, Susie Martin, Midland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herbert and Henry Martin; three sisters, Judy Sanford, Thelma Anderson and Mickey Woitte; and his eldest son, Scott Martin.
 
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Midland School Gym in Midland.
 
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Midland School Gym.
 
Interment with military honors will be held at the Midland Cemetery.
 
A memorial has been established.
