Alice M Poss

Alice M. Poss was born March 28,1932, in Quinn, SD to Peder and Pearl (Hildebrandt) Kjerstad. She grew up there in her parents’ home alongside her two brothers and two sisters. Alice worked in the Quinn Bank for a year or two before marrying Robert Poss in 1950. Together they had a daughter, Marsha (South) and Claude. They continued to live in South Dakota for a few years before moving to Arizona.

In Arizona, she raised her children while working various jobs. Always a friendly person, she cultivated and maintained many friendships that lasted her whole life. She thoroughly enjoyed being a mother and later a grandmother. Sometime after settling in Oracle, AZ she began a 30 year long career with the United States Postal Service. Alice and Bob divorced in 1986 and she continued to live happily in Oracle surrounded by family and friends. Alice enjoyed a nice visit more than most things. Her other pleasures included coffee, fishing, card games, slot machines, travel, sweets, hummingbirds, gardening, and the evening news. She was a giving person by nature and helped those in her life that were in need. Alice passed from this world to eternity peacefully at home. 

Grateful for sharing her life are her brother Roger Kjerstad, daughter-in-law Rebecca Granowitz, grandkids- Kristina (Tom) Myers, Stacy (Kevin) Goldstein, Sarah Turner, Luke (Aubrie) Poss, great grandkids- Jeff Myers, Michael (Maranda) Myers, Jourdan (Jashiin) Myers, Riley Goldstein, Ethan Goldstein, Robert King, Ezra Poss, Abby Poss, John Graham, great-great-grandkids Jayden Prowell and Jaxson Prowell.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Peder and Pearl Kjerstad, Robert Poss, sisters Velda Bodkin and Vida Fillingsness, brother Floyd Kjerstad, son Claude Poss, daughter Marsha South, grandson Jeremy South and many dear friends and family. 

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
