Alma Annabelle (Hulett) Schilling

Alma Annabelle (Hulett) Schilling, 90, of Redfield, SD, passed away at Prairie Heights Healthcare on April 23, 2023, in Aberdeen, SD.
Visitation will be Friday, April 28, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 29, at Redfield United Methodist Church in Redfield. Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Pastor Melissa Rowenhorst will officiate at both services.  
The funeral service will be live-streamed on the funeral home’s website under Alma's obituary for those unable to attend.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).
Alma Annabelle Hulett was born on October 24, 1932, in Cottonwood, SD, to Harry and Evalynn (Palmer) Hulett.  She graduated from Phillip High School in Phillip, SD and then attended Dakota State College in Madison.  She then graduated from Northern State College as a teacher, which she did for a few years.
Alma met the love of her life, Harry Schilling, after being introduced by his sister, who she knew from Northern. They were married on July 24, 1960, in Philip. Eventually, they moved to Faulkton, SD, then to Redfield.  She was a homemaker but was very active in the Redfield United Methodist Church, being a member of circle meetings as well as helping/attending events, and was a member of the Rebekah‘s.  Alma was active in Foster Grandparents for several years and was named Foster Grandparent of the Year one year and was very active in the community.
She is survived by her son Henry (Cynthia) Schilling of McComb, MS, and their children: Jeremy and Zachary; son Ted (Jill) Schilling of Spearfish, SD, and their children: Daniel, Matthew, Timothy, and Emma; and daughter Ruth Logan of Aberdeen, SD, and her children: Leeann, Susan, Kimberly, and Tiffany. Alma is also survived by her daughter-in-law Michelle Schilling of Watertown, SD, and her daughter Samantha; two great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Brielle; sisters-in-law: Millie Schilling and Sara Lembke; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harry; parents, Harry and Evalynn; son, Paul; sister, Effie May Johnson; brother, Ernest (Ernie) Hulett; sisters-in-law, Hazel, Miriam, and Elsie; and brothers-in-law: Vernon and Ivan.
