Annie Elliott McLaughlin

Annie Elliott McLaughlin, 88, of Mitchell, SD, died Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Aurora-Brule Care Center in White Lake, SD.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Downtown First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Burial will at Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Annie Louella McLaughlin was born on November 21, 1930 to William “Bill” and Sarah “Sadie” (Gardner) Elliott in Summerfield, NC. She lived in the same home she was born in until she married Clayton L. McLaughlin on January 21, 1956. The couple met through a neighborhood friend when Clayton served in Korea.
She worked at Sears Roebuck at Greensboro, NC for seven years, sold Avon for four years, worked in the cafeteria at Mitchell Junior High, cooked for four years at the Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, and worked for fifteen years at Snyder Drug.
Annie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell and the Women’s Esther Circle.
She is survived by her husband Clayton; two children, David (Cheri) McLaughlin, Monroe, IA, and Connie McLaughlin, Wessington Springs, SD; two granddaughters, Tamara (Dave) Williams and Alison McLaughlin; great-granddaughter, Maleah Marcum; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth, Gerald, and Rev. Wallace Elliott, and sisters, Eloise Rychlik and Phyllis Tompkins.
Memorials are preferred to the First United Methodist Women’s Esther Circle.
