Bart B. Cheney

November 27, 1969 - October 2, 2015
After a three year battle with cancer, Bart Bly Cheney was called to the Lord on October 2, 2015, at the age of 45. Bart will be missed by his family and friends, and his compassion, smile, and laugh that touched so many hearts will not be forgotten.
Bart Bly Cheney was born November 27, 1969, in Rapid City, S.D., the son of William Cheney and Patricia Hamm. He graduated from Wall High School in 1988 and left for a time to work different jobs before returning to Wall. It is at this time, he met his wife Tommi White. Over the last 15-1/2 years, they have built a family and farming operation that Bart loved. From this union, he was blessed with a son, Brycen Cheney, and a daughter, Riggens Cheney, whom he loved with all of his heart.
Bart was a kind, hardworking man that enjoyed life, and had a passion for being a father – always present, involved, and supportive. He was at every one of Brycen and Riggens’ activities and special events, no matter how small. Bart’s other passion was farming, a dream he had since he was a young boy. He fulfilled his dream as a respected farmer.
Bart was a member of the Western South Dakota Buckaroos and  the Farm Service Agency board. He was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, which he recently joined when his battle with cancer brought him to find faith. This was a blessing to Bart as it comforted him, particularly in the end.
Bart is survived by his wife, Tommi Cheney; his children, Brycen and Riggens Cheney; his father, William Cheney; his grandmother, Loy Hamm; his sister and brother-in-law, Brooke and Jason Kelly; his stepfather, Michael Bowman; his father- and mother-in-law, Gail and Wanda Johnson; his father-in-law, Charles White; his sisters- and brothers-in-law Shaun Johnson, Darren and Heather Johnson, Brett and Cristi Guptill and Chris and Malori Teigan; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Bart was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia (Hamm) Bowman; his grandfather, Glenn Hamm; and grandparents, Julian and Marva Cheney.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated. Tuesday, October 6, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wall, with Father Tim Hoag as celebrant, and Father Leo Hausmann as con-celebrant.

Ushers were Jim Eisenbraun, Ed Dartt and Nathan Kjerstad. Pallbearers were Scot Eisenbraun, Daryl Dartt, Dale Sawvell, Kent Kjerstad, Justin Schreiber and Kevin Bielmaier.
