Bryan J. Bradley

Bryan J. Bradley, age 56, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at his home in Yankton after a long battle with cancer.

 

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Wintz and Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with Chaplain Dennis Webber officiating.  A gathering of friends and family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Wintz and Ray Funeral Home in Yankton.

Honorary pallbearers are: Will Sayler, Scott Oldenkamp, Bill Elrod, Michael Erickson, Lorin Kuehler, Joe Eickhoff, and Les Kirscher.

 

Bryan J. Bradley was born November 19, 1960, in Pierre, South Dakota to Richard and Hermine (Wheeler) Bradley.  He grew up in Murdo, South Dakota, and graduated from Jones County High School in 1979.  

 

He attended the South Dakota School of Mines until transferring to South Dakota State University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.  He moved to Rapid City and worked for Alliance of Architects and Engineers.  

 

He married Kathie Anderson on December 19, 1987 in Spearfish, South Dakota.  A few days after their marriage, Bryan took a job with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  He worked at Oahe Dam in Pierre, South Dakota and Fort Peck, Montana until 1989 when he became the Chief Engineer at Gavins Point Dam in Yankton. 

 

Bryan was a very talented musician and enjoyed singing, fishing, hunting, and building remote control airplanes. He was a very hardworking, honest man who never complained and was always willing to help anyone, never expecting anything in return.  He was always concerned about the rules and regulations of anything he was involved with and was very dedicated to the Corps of Engineers.

 

Survivors include his wife, Kathie Bradley of Yankton; son, Michael (Katerina) Harnois of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Tjaden Wright and Sofia Harnois; four brothers and sisters: Barb (Rusty) Rust of Okaton, South Dakota; Dick (Kris) Bradley of Pierre, South Dakota; Kate Bradley of Murdo, South Dakota; and Jeffrey (Carol) Bradley of Rapid City, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hermine Bradley.
