Casey Briscoe, age 77 of Lemmon, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 19, 2023 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger.
The Memorial Service will held at 2:30pm MT on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon with Pastor Audie Brockel, officiating.
Burial will be 1:00PM on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with full military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
Roger Dale Briscoe “Casey” was born on September 3, 1945 at Isabel, SD to Dale and Nellie (Seim) Briscoe. Casey was the oldest of 5 children so a lot of the hard work on the ranch went to Casey.
He married Lindy Laurenz and Casey worked for Roy Trent 7 miles east of the Briscoe Ranch. Casey and Lindy moved to Sturgis where he worked in the mine at Lead.
Casey was inducted into the US Army on July 18, 1969 and served in Vietnam as a medic until his discharge on February 21, 1971.
In the early 1970’s, Casey and Lindy purchased Meadow Corner which the operated. Their twins Bradley and Brandee were born in 1975 while they were operating Meadow Corner.
Casey then began working for various ranchers around the area, working the longest for John and Dixie Buer from 1989 to 1998.
Casey married Nancy Witt and a son Brent Witt and daughter Lyndsay Witt were added to the family and later a daughter Kathy was born. They moved to Lemmon.
In Lemmon, Casey worked with the sanitation department operated the garbage truck for several years. He later on worked at Gregorian and for Live Inc.
Casey enjoyed his card playing buddies at the Lemmon Legion and the Lemmon Rec. He played Texas Hold-em, pinochle, and rummy, maybe even a little Pitch and Whist.
Good times with Casey’s kids, grandkids, nephews and nieces were had when he was teaching them how to play cards or trying to get their money. They learned how to play cards or lose their piggy banks at Penny and a Point.
Surviving family members include his daughters, Brandee Briscoe, Lead, SD; Kathleen (Ole) Herland, Wildrose, ND; son, Bradley Briscoe, LaPlant, SD; 4 grandchildren; Casey Rae Briscoe; Olivia, Finnley, and Irik Herland; his siblings, Pat (Trisha) Briscoe, Amarillo, TX; Sharon Paranto, Aberdeen, SD; Corinne Lockert, and Ron Briscoe, both of Lemmon, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Tori Briscoe.
