Cecilia Melvin

Cecilia Melvin, age 86, of Wall, South Dakota, died on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Cecilia C. Melvin was born September 11, 1932, in Rapid City, South Dakota the daughter of Patrick S. and Cecilia M. (Delvaux) Melvin. She grew up on a farm north of Wall and attended the Huron Rural School in that area prior to graduating from the Wall High School in 1950. As a young lady she worked on the farm with her father, as her mother passed away when Cecilia was very young.
In 1959, Cecilia and her father moved into Wall where she worked in various cafe's in the Wall community and she continued to take care of her father until his death in 1972. Cecilia began her employment with the Wall Drug Store in 1975 and continued there until her retirement in 2013.
Cecilia was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Wall and a member of the F.J. Willuweit VFW Auxiliary Post #246 of Quinn.
Grateful for having shared her life are several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Lyle, James and Jerome Melvin; three sisters, Rose McDonnell, Maurine Willuweit and Bernice Meirose.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wall, with Father Dan Juelfs as celebrant.
Interment will be at the Wall Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wall.
Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Wall.
