Daniel Meyer

Daniel Meyer, 78, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Daniel Ray Meyer was born April 22, 1937, the son of Leo and Lucille (Steffen) Meyer. He grew up near Owanka, and graduated from New Underwood High School in 1954. He went on to graduate from South Dakota State Univeristy with a degree in wildlife conservation and range management.

He married Bunny Ann King July 27, 1961, at Stuart, Neb. They began their family in Buffalo, moving to Martin, and Custer. After traveling the United States, they settled in Lennox. Bunny died Dec. 16, 2010.

He served in the U.S. Army from November 1961 until his honorable discharge in August 1962. Dan worked for the government as a range management specialist for over 20 years. He went on to own and operate a flower shop and greenhouse business in Martin for over 15 years with his wife Bunny. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and in later years woodworking. He was a member of St. Magdalen’s Catholic Church.

Besides his wife, Bunny, Dan was preceded in death by his parents.

Grateful for having shared his life are his four children, Nancy Ann (Curtis) West, Antonito, Colo., John Wesley (Barb) Meyer, Beloit, Kan., James Louis (Mary) Meyer, Virginia Beach, Va., and Jerome Jacob (Nicole) Meyer, Lennox; four grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Remington, Boston, Mass., Cindy April Meyer, China, August William Henry Meyer and Leonard Albert Gerald Meyer both of Lennox; stepgrandchildren, Aricka and Victoria Niezwaag, Lennox; brothers, Calvin (Alice) Meyer, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and William Meyer, Ownaka, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
