David Hahn

David L. "Dave" Hahn, age 78, of Wall, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
David L. Hahn was born November 15, 1939 in Wheaton, Minnesota. He attended Rosholt High School and went on to South Dakota State University where he earned a bachelor and master’s degree and learned to fly. Dave started his professional career teaching music before going on to become the principal in Gregory and the superintendent in Wall.
Dave taught numerous individuals to play music, sing in the choir, waterski, and obtain their pilots license over the years. Dave was a wonderful asset to the town of Wall. Over the years he owned the hardware store and a gas station, was a member of the ambulance crew and was the mayor of Wall for thirty years.
Dave’s wishes were to donate his body to the Sanford USD Medical School, where he will continue his legacy of teaching and giving people the opportunity to further their knowledge.
Survivors include his wife Carol of Wall; three step-children Mitch Richter and his wife Julie, Shannon Schaefers, and Londa Richter, all of Rapid City; seven step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; his brother Dale Hahn and his wife Kathy of Minneapolis; one sister Arleen Bietz and her husband Dwight of Scotland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life to honor Dave Hahn will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Wall on Sunday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. as part of the regular morning worship service. A potluck will follow the service in the church’s basement.
A Scholarship Fund will be established in Dave’s name.
Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Wall.
