Dorothy Emma Geigle Stafford

Dorothy Emma Geigle passed away  on October 15, 2015, after a courageous battle against cancer.
She was born at home in Creighton, S.D., to Adolph and Hertha Geigle on October 17, 1940, and was the oldest of three children. She was raised in the Creighton\Wall area with her two siblings, Norman and Goldie. She graduated from Wall High School in May of 1958, and on August 3, 1958, she married Johnny Stevens at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Creighton, the first marriage ceremony performed at that location. To this union five “RLS” children were born: Rhonda L, Rocky L, Robin L, Rodney L, and Roger L.
In 1968, Dorothy married Wendell Whitney, and the family relocated to Denver, Colo., where she resided until her death. Dorothy sold Avon for over 40 years, and worked various other jobs including shuttling rental cars for Avis and Budget. Most likely she had driven every major roadway in Colorado, with precision and speed! In her later years, she enjoyed traveling, polka dancing, George Strait music, Nascar, and attending Rockies Spring training in Arizona with Nate Younger.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Rhonda Poole of Guernsey, Wyo., Robin Angle of Cheyenne, Wyo., Rodney of PineBluffs, Wyo., and Roger (Kris) of Chadron, Neb.; brother, Norman (Diane) Geigle of Wall; sister, Goldie Eason, of Northport, Ala.; five grandchildren, Danielle Smith, Nikki Buchanan. Rocky D. Stevens, Jordyn and Kaitie Stevens; five great-grandchildren; her special friend and caretaker, Nathan Younger; together with a host of relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Hertha Geigle; her son, Rocky Stevens; infant daughter, Tiffany Whitney; and her late husband, Ron Stafford.
A memorial service for Dorothy was held in Denver on October 17, 2015, which would have been her 75th birthday.
Please join the family in celebrating her life at the Wall Community Center on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at the Wall Cemetery, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
