Erin Lynne Bourk

Erin Lynne Bourk, 81, of Pierre, SD, formerly of Blunt, SD died Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Edgewood Healthcare in Pierre.
Memorial service will be 10:00am on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at St. John's Catholic Church in Fort Pierre, SD.
Erin Lynne Doyle was born on September 18, 1941 in Glenmore, Louisiana, the daughter of James M. and Ferne L. (Wiedenman) Doyle, barely weighing in at 4 pounds. Jim was serving in the U.S. Army at the time. She often said that her Dad’s shoe boxes were big enough for her to sleep in after she was born. They moved to Blunt after Jim’s discharge where Erin attended school, graduating as Valedictorian in 1959.
Erin attended business school in Sioux Falls and then returned to Blunt where she met Richard (Dick) Vosberg.  She and Dick married on July 7, 1961 at the Catholic Church in Blunt. Dick and Erin lived in Spencer, Mitchell and Littleburg (Todd County) while Dick was teaching and then returned to Blunt. Erin worked at the Secretary of State’s Office in Pierre during this time. They then ventured to Kadoka where she worked as a bookkeeper for Hogan’s Hardware, White River at the Mellette County Courthouse, Draper at the local restaurant and then Midland, where she worked at Joy’s Café and later at the Midland School as a Special Education Aide.
Erin left Midland and returned to Blunt where she worked with her Dad at Blunt Cash Store until Jim sold the store to her son, Kelly, and then she went to work at Fischer, Rounds and Associates. It was during this time that she became reacquainted with Don. They were married on January 24, 1985 and she gained three more kids – Steve, Robin and Vona, whom she loved dearly. They made their home in Pierre until they decided to return to Blunt. She worked at Blunt Cash and Medicine Creek and later at the Ft. Pierre Sale Barn Office for many, many years … why not, Don went there every Friday anyway so she may as well go along. They built a home in Pierre a few years ago, something she had always wanted…a “NEW” home.
Erin loved family time, especially if it included cards or cornhole. She belonged to a bowling league for several years and attended several State Bowling Tournaments.
Erin loved everyone, she could visit with anyone about anything and she left a huge impact on many, many people. She was a wonderful Sister, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma and cousin and never gave up a chance for a hug.
Erin is survived by her husband, Don; her children Holly (Randy) Nemec of Midland and Kelly (Dena) Vosberg of Ft. Pierre, her Brother Richard Doyle (Sandy) of Blunt and her Sister Colleen (Dan) Lamb of Onida. Grandchildren Katey (Brian) Ortlieb of Sturgis and their children Morgan, Tanner and Taiton; Tyler Nemec and his wife, Angel and their children, Tukker, Emry and Ky of Midland, and Chelsee (Tyler) Rankin and their children Addison and Joey of Murdo, Step-children Steve Bourk and children of Pierre, Robin (Larry) Carlson and children of Pierre, and Vona (Steve) Johnson, and children of Pierre, as well as many, many cousins who she loved dearly.
“The hardest part about living in Blunt was the water!”
