George Kim Schofield

George Kim Schofield, age 60, died May 18, 2017, at his home in Hysham, Mont., following a battle with cancer. 
 
He was born Aug. 30, 1956, in Pierre, S.D., the son of Martin L. and Edith Fosheim Schofield.
 
George was a hard-working and successful man who specialized as an electrician in the mining industry for more than 35 years. He was highly certified and worked as electrical supervisor at Westmoreland Resources, Inc. at the time of his death. He also worked at Kiewit, Foundation Coal West, Triton Coal, and other companies where he gave his all every day and touched so many colleagues and friends. At work, as in everyday life, he earned a reputation for his selflessness and desire to help others in any way he could. He gave all that he had, and at times even more. 
 
He leaves his loving wife of 16 years, Melissa Schofield, a resident of Hysham who is from Cody, Wyo. He was also the hero to five children who admire him greatly, Cole Schofield of Parker, Colo., Chris Hayden of Sheridan, Wyo., Andrew Schofield of Billings, Mont., Kimberly Schofield of Casper, Wyo., and Marty Parks of Midwest, Wyo.; in addition to a stepson, Michael J. Clark, and stepdaughter, Kendra Edden. 
 
He is survived by brothers, Marvin and James Schofield, and sisters, Brenda Balben and Suzanne Schofield, as well as nine grandchildren and a grandson on the way. He also leaves many close friends. 
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin L. Schofield.
 
Services were held Saturday May 27, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Casper, Wyo.
