Georgine Wolff

Georgine Wolff, age 88, of Lemmon, SD, passed away on Thursday morning, August 4, 2016 at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care in Sturgis, SD.
The Funeral Service were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Indian Creek Lutheran Church south of Meadow.  Burial was at the Chance Cemetery.
Visitation was on Friday from 1 - 7 p.m. at Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
GEORGINE GWENDOLYN NASS was born on October 14, 1927 to Carl and Mildred (Husfloen) Nass in rural Hettinger County, ND.  She was the oldest of four children.  Georgine liked school, attending a country grade school, and New England High School.  She graduated from high school at the age of 16, when our country was in the middle of WWII.  Teachers were needed, so Georgine, and many other young women, traveled to Dickinson to attend a special 8 week course during the summer, to earn their Teaching Permit, which was endorsed by the governor of ND.  At age 17 she was legal to teach school in ND. She taught country grade school in the Regent, ND area, close to where she grew up.
Georgine met Richard Lincoln Wolff and they were united in marriage on October 6, 1948 at the TeePee Butte Lutheran Church SW of Regent.  The newlyweds resided and worked on the Wolff family farm. With helping on the farm and teaching around the area, Georgine was a very busy young lady.
In 1953 Georgine and Richard and new baby boy Curt, moved to Meadow, SD.  This was a turning of a new leaf.  While continue to farm and ranch in their new home, she decided to continue her teaching career.  She taught school in the Meadow area and attended Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish, SD during the summer months.  Georgine was very dedicated to her teaching, often telling of the time she taught out of a sheep wagon when the harsh winter prevented her and the kids from reaching the school house.
In the early 1960’s son Tracy and daughter Darlyce were added to the family (16 months apart) and the family was now complete.   By this time country schools were closing and kids were being bused to bigger schools in town.  With no more country schools to teach in, Georgine chose to drive the school bus and work as a Teacher’s Aide for the Bison Independent School District.  She did this from the late 1960’s to the early 1980’s.
Georgine was very active in the Indian Creek Lutheran Ladies Aide, loved arts and crafts, was Chairman of the American Cancer Assoc. Trail Ride, did quilting, and was involved in Vacation Bible School.  With all this going on, she could still find time to play a waltz on the piano, accompanied by Richard on his accordion, or have a night out on the town to “cut a rug”, as they loved to dance.
Richard moved into the Five Countries Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD in 1999.  To be closer to him, Georgine also moved to Lemmon.  She worked part time at the nursing home while Richard was a resident there.  After Richards passing, Georgine continued to live on her own until the Fall of 2015. Dealing with a bad case of pneumonia and failing eyesight, Georgine was admitted to Five Counties Nursing Home where she resided until her decision to move to the Sturgis Nursing Home in April of 2016, where she passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 after suffering complications from a fall.
Grateful for sharing her life are her two sons; Curt (Anita Larson) Wolff, Rapid City, SD; Tracy (Mary) Wolf, Meadow, SD; one daughter, Darlyce (Bill) Bollwerk, Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren, Alex, Jacob and Bryant Wolff ( Curt’s); Whitney (Heinrich) Mueller, Tharen Christian and Lance Wolff (Tracy’s); Samantha (Mark) Slocum, and Carlee Bollwerk (Darlyce’s); three great-grandchildren, Conrad, Cecelia, and Mara; brothers, Arlie (Corey) Nass, El Paso, TX; Dale (Rose) Nass, Tigard, OR; sister, Eileen (Tom) Caldwell, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.
