Gerald Urban, 92, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 25, 2016. Gerald was born on March 11, 1923, in Omaha, Neb.
He grew up on a farm north of Philip, S.D.
Gerald was a deep sea diver during World War II. After leaving the Navy, Gerald began his career as an over the road truck driver, spending the majority his career with Barber Transportation.
Gerald married Mary Carmen Perez. Together they raised five children.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife in 2011. He is survived by his children, Clark Urban, Rapid City, Theresa Reever (Bobby), Shalimar, Fla., Andrea Wolf (John), Rapid City, James Urban, Denver, Colo., and Aaron Urban, Rapid City; six grandchildren, Brandy Cassulo, Laura Fuerst, Jessica Hirschman, Emily Hirschman, Travis Wolff and Ian Wolff, and five great grandchildren.
Gerald loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed.
Visitation was March 1 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home followed by a Vigil Service.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on March 2, 2016, with interment following at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
