Grace O’Dea

December 27, 1923 - July 1, 2015
Grace Arlene Omdahl O’Dea, 91, formerly of Sugar City, Colo., most recently living in Pueblo at the Villa Pueblo Senior Living Community where she passed away July 1, 2015. 
She was born December 27, 1923, to Mandus and Sylvia (Scotvold) Omdahl in Cottonwood, S.D., the third of 10 children. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1942.
She married Melvin O’Dea February 2, 1947, and they had six daughters.
Grace was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker until her mid-40s when she went to work as a cook and dietician for the newly organized Ordway Nursing Home. She loved her job and the patients she cooked for so much she probably would have never retired except after 19 years and being 66 years old, it was time. She adored her family and was always such a loving, caring and giving person with a very strong faith.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ordway, Colo. Grace was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 336 and past active member of the Democratic Party.
She is survived by five daughters and their spouses, Donna O’Dea-Moore (Frank), Centennial, Colo., Dianne (Gary) Visconti, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Roxie (Steve) Smith, Ordway, Colo., Rita O’Dea (Danny Pitcher), Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dixie Schweers, Winnett, Mont.; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Jody Visconti-Clow (Steve), Rory (Haydee) Carr, Camron (Maggie) Carr, Dawn (Dale) Back, Taryn (Jason) Rottman, Jason (Cherie) Visconti, Justin (Brenda) Smith; Bren (Alexis) Cline, Chad (Simona) Smith, John (Tabitha) Smith and Dakota (Sarah) Schweers; a son-in-law, Phillips Knutson, Pueblo, Colo.; numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Randy) Franks, and Florence Dean, Philip; and one brother, Vernon (Carol) Omdahl, Cottonwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; two grandsons, Craig Allen Visconti and Cody Jo Carr; brothers, Oliver and Thomas; and sisters, Mable, Nellie, Esther and Lucille.
Her daughter, Randi Knutson, passed away on July 21, 2015. 
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ordway, Colo., on July 8, 2015. 
Interment was at Lakeview in Cemetery, Sugar City, Colo. Family request donations to Sangre De Cristo Hospice; 1207 Pueblo Blvd Way, Pueblo, CO 81005.
