Joyce Doolittle

Joyce Ann Jordan was born July 18, 1952, in Rapid City, South Dakota to William and Irean (Clausen) Jordan. Joyce grew up in the Marcus area. She was hard working and enjoyed riding horses when she was younger especially with her brother Paul. Joyce attended grade school at Brushy Creek County School and high school at St. Martin Academy. Joyce was united in marriage to Bill C. Doolittle on October 27, 1969, in New Underwood, South Dakota. To this union were born four sons and two daughters, Aaron, Eric, Clinton, and Justin, and daughters Tracy and Jennifer. While raising their children, Bill and Joyce worked varies ranch jobs until settling in Pierre for a while. In Pierre, Joyce enjoyed working at Oahe Inc. and had a special place in her heart for the clients. She then began working at St. Mary’s Hospital for a number of years. After retiring in 2012, Bill and Joyce returned to Midland, a place they loved during their life’s adventure. She was a kind and wonderful wife, Mom, and Grandma. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, most of all. Joyce had fun racing barefoot with her children across the yard. Camping was an event that she looked forward to every summer and always cooked for a couple days before they left. Christmas was her favorite holiday because her family got together. The food was again plentiful with her making her famous lasagna and fudge. Joyce appreciated older Western Art and was rarely seen without a book in her hand. Joyce loved life and kept her sense of humor even through her battle with cancer.
