Karen Marie Fiedler

Karen Marie Fiedler, 71, of Newcastle, Nebraska passed away on January 8, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield, Nebraska after a long battle with cancer.  
Karen was born on July 1, 1951, in Philip, South Dakota to Lorriane (Froslie) and Dale Fiedler.  Karen grew up in the Hilland area living on the family farm and ranch and going to country school.  Karen was the only girl among 3 brothers.  Ralph being the oldest, Morris, and then Karen, and Ross being the youngest brother.  Karen graduated from Philip High School in 1969.  Shortly after graduated Karen married Richard (Dick) Burks and they moved to Waseca, Minnesota. Karen and Dick lived in several different areas of the country, but ended up living and working in Yankton, South Dakota.  Karen was the mother to four children. Laurie (Burks) Phillips, Jonathan Burks, Aaron Burks, and Joey Burks.  Karen had a love of sewing which she learned from her mother.  Karen was a good cook and several of her family members would attest to that.  Karen was quirky and always had a sense of humor about things in life.  
Karen is survived by her children:  Laurie (Ryan) Phillips and their daughter, Sarah Phillips; Jonathan (Kristi) Burks and their children, Kaitlin, Felisa, Tristan, Aubriana, and Chloe Burks; Aaron Burks, Joey Burks and his son Zander Burks; and two brothers, Ralph (Cathy) Fiedler of Sturgis, South Dakota and Ross Fiedler of Missoula, Montana.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Lorriane Fiedler, and her brother, Morris Fiedler.
A Celebration of Life will be held a later date.
