Kim Arthur Kerns

Kim Arthur Kerns was born in Kadoka, S.D. on August 20, 1957. He married Lori Ann Giesinger in Rapid City, S.D. on September 1, 1979 at Chapel of The Hills in Rapid City, S.D.. Together they raised two sons, Jacob and Joseph (Joey). 
Kim and Lori had a beautiful life together, riding motorcycles, travelling, camping and raising their sons to be strong, smart men. Nascar and M&M's were Kim’s guilty pleasures. Kim loved to sing and play guitar and played whenever he was able to. He passed on his love for music and guitar playing knowledge to Jacob and Joey. 
Kim spent his life working hard as a Master Plumber and teaching the great values that were instilled into him onto his own family. Kim's family describes him as amazing, witty, jokeful, smart, and talented. 
Kim passed away comfortably at Hospice House in Rapid City on July 3, 2020, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Kim was preceded in death by his wife, Lori, his father, Daryl, and his brothers, Steve and Mike.  
Kim is survived by his sons, Jacob (Mona), Joey (Tiana), mother Linda, siblings Brenda Polk, Michele (Jim) McNeely, Connie (Kelly) Kralicek, Lori Nielsen, Bart Kerns, and John (Carrie) Kerns, grandchildren Patience (Jared) Byrge, Brianna Kerns, Madisyn Kerns, Karren Kerns, and Kaia Kerns. and great grandson Wesson Byrge, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his beloved dog Junior.
The Kerns family requests that donations be made in Kim's name to Hospice House of Rapid City or to the American Cancer Society. 
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. MDT on August 15, 2020 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City, S.D.
