Leslie Ralph Hansen was born in Philip, S.D., on March 23, 1948 and passed away in Bend, Ore., on Oct. 2, 2015 after suffering for several years with throat cancer.
He was married to Charlotte White for 20 years until she died in 2012. He had two children, Carol and David.
Leslie went to school in Philip for 12 years, graduating in 1966, and attended college in California, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, and several other places.
During his colorful life he advanced to Life Scout, earning numerous merit badges. He was an accomplished musician on the guitar and piano and provided many hours of entertainment during family reunions.
He authored several books and was a student of scientific numerology. He worked for many years as a professional meat cutter and carpenter.
Graveside ecumenical services will be held at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 10:00 a.m.
