Margaret Eisenbraun

Margaret Eisenbraun, age 96, of Creighton, S.D., died Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at the Philip Nursing Home.

Margaret was born May 15, 1920, the daughter of Fred and Rosina (Hein) Luikens at Freeman, S.D. 

Margaret was baptized on June 13, 1920, and confirmed into the Missouri Synod Lutheran faith on Feb. 25, 1934, in the Heilbronn Lutheran Church.

Margaret received her education at the First Lutheran parochial school in South Dakota, at the Heilbronn Lutheran Church of Freeman. Christian education of the young was of the utmost importance to the Lutheran families. 

On April 28, 1940, Margaret was united in marriage to Oscar Eisenbraun and to this union were born five children, including a set of triplets. The couple lived in the Creighton area all their married lives where they farmed and ranched. She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Creighton. In July of 2014, she became a resident of the Philip Nursing Home and resided there until the time of her death.

Grateful for having shared her life are her five children, Lorraine Fauske of Wall, Alice Richter of New Underwood, Anna (Don) Brown of Elko, Nev., Alma (Gene) Crosbie of New Underwood, and Fred (Doris) Eisenbraun of Creighton. 

Margaret also leaves behind nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jake Luikens and Albert (Irene) Luikens, all of Menno; two sisters, Viola Ulmer of Menno and Ruth (Oscar) Dupraz of Chandler, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, on July 17, 1996, her parents; two brothers, William and Fred, Jr.; one sister, Freida Rempfer; two sons-in-law, Norman Fauske and Ted Richter; a granddaughter, Monica Richter; and a grandson-in-law, Danny Nelson.

Margaret was an inspiration to her family and friends. She was blessed with a long life and the joy of a Christian faith.

Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Creighton, with Pastor Kent Borglum officiating.

Interment was at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Creighton.

Memorials are established to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Creighton and Main Street Living in Sioux Falls.

Arrangements were with the Rush Funeral Chapel of Wall.
