Margaret M. (Harnisch) Buckles
Margaret Marie (Harnisch) Buckles passed peacefully on July 14, 2016. She was born on August 20, 1925 in Clayton, S.D., to William and Emma (Werning) Harnisch. She was baptized on Sept. 14, 1925 in Clayton and confirmed on August 21, 1938 in Wall, S.D. She graduated from Wall High School in 1943. She then attended Black Hills Teacher College in Spearfish, and then taught in a one room school house in Pennington County, S.D.
She married John Warren Buckles in Wall, on September 25, 1953 in double wedding ceremony with her sister Helen. She and John lived in South Dakota, Utah and California before settling in Eugene, Ore., in 1968.
Margaret is survived by her children, Mary Glenn, Alan Buckles (Cathy Shoulders), Dale and Sandra Buckles all of Eugene, Ore., and Lora Buckles (Jamison Smith) of Florence, Ore; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Harnisch and Mildred Harnisch of Wall, Helen Slovek of Philip, Esther and Elry Hoefs of Rapid City; sister-in-laws, Yvonne Harnisch of Fridley, Minn., Ione Druyvestein of Custer; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John; son-in-law, Steven Glenn; her parents; sisters, Mathilda Campbell and Alice Clair; and brothers, Melvin and Leonard Harnisch.
Memorial Service were held on July 19, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Foundation or Life Lutheran School.
