Mildred Patricia Thompson was born on March 29, 1930 at Hettinger, ND, to Andrew A. Thompson and Annie (Goldman) Thompson, the youngest of five children. She attended Hettinger grade school and Hettinger High School.
On January 5, 1951, Mildred was united in marriage to John Eggebo at the parental home of Andrew and Annie Thompson in Hettinger. They made their home on the Eggebo farm southwest of Lodgepole. Five children were born to this union, Melvin, James, Karen, Cheryl and Carol.
In 1967, the family moved to Hettinger. Mildred worked at the City Café as a waitress for many years. She later worked in the laundry department at Hillcrest Care Center in Hettinger for 19 years until her retirement in 2002.
After her husband, John, passed away on October 18, 2007, Mildred moved into an apartment, where she lived until her death. She loved her cute apartment, her neighbors, and the beautiful flowers in the flower beds. Mildred enjoyed reading, crocheting potholders and making afghans for her grandchildren. Some of her favorite things to do were to call KNDC radio with all the family birthdays, walk with Ione Melling and her kitties, and go to lunch with her family and good friend, Kate Bergquist.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Annie Thompson; her husband, John; her brothers, Roger, Alvin and Kenneth Thompson; sisters-in-law, Rita Thompson and Phyllis Thompson; an infant sister; son-in-law, Byron (Butch) Mattis; an infant grandson, Justin Eggebo; and great-granddaughter, Amiah Lynn Smith.
