On October 4, 1959 she was united in marriage to Ivan Schilling in Pierre. From this union came three children: Camilla, Craig and Carmelita.

They later opened a repair shop on the property south of their home in Midland. After becoming a stay at home mom, Miriam was a very active member of the community. If you needed a volunteer Miriam would always be there. She also was a substitute teacher at the school and helped in the kitchen. She will always be remembered for her “Spanish” hamburgers at the Midland School events. She also belonged to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland where she was an active member.

In June 2009, Ivan and Miriam moved to Gillette, Wyoming to be closer to all their children and grandchildren. Even though they moved from Midland, she still stayed in contact with many dear friends in Midland.

Miriam is survived by her husband, Ivan of Gillette; three children, Camilla Henle, Craig (Laura) Schilling and Carmelita (Will) Colby all of Gillette; seven grandchildren, Brandon Allee of Gillette; Deann (Brent) Kepler of Princeton, LA; Casey Schilling of Gillette; Kennedy Schilling of Parkston, SD; Mikey Dahmer of Gillette; Wiatt Colby of Gillette; and Koltin Colby of Gillette; five great-grandchildren, Sabrina Allee of Gillette; Greysen & Sawyer Kepler of Princeton, LA; Hayden & Daxton Schilling of Parkston, SD; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
