Paul "Dwight" Finchum

Paul "Dwight" Finchum, age 53, of Kadoka, S.D., died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
 
Paul “Dwight” Finchum was born June 4, 1963, in Tennessee, the son of Paul K. and Mary (King) Finchum. He grew up in East Tennessee and attended Sevier County High School. He was a truck driver for over 30 years and had previously worked at Shore Trucking in Maryville.
 
Dwight was united in marriage to Garnet Walker on Sept. 5, 2009. They moved to North Dakota during the oil boom in 2011, where he worked in the oil field as a truck driver. In 2012, they made the decision to get into hotel management and managed three hotels in Dickinson, N.D., before moving to South Dakota in 2015 to become managers of Americas Best Value Inn.
 
He loved to joke and laugh and was very good in the hospitality field. He loved Harleys and missed riding.
 
He was a grandfather to nine grandchildren whom loved him dearly.
 
Dwight never met a stranger. He was known to everyone as "Casper," his CB handle when driving a truck. Everyone who came in contact with him loved him and his sense of humor.
 
Survivors include his wife, Garnet, of Kadoka; two sons, Jesse and Tylor (Sadie) of Tennessee; two stepsons, John (Miranda) Fisher of Tennessee and Joey (Fina) Fisher of Kadoka; nine grandchildren; his mother, Mary Bales of Tennessee; and three sisters, Kaye, Shirley and Diane, all of Tennessee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Paul, and a grandson, Nicholas.
 
A private visitation was held prior to cremation taking place.
 
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Tennessee.
 
Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Kadoka.
