Stephen "Steve" Ferris

Stephen Charles Ferris, 57, died Friday, August 23, 2019 at Hospice of the Hills, following a 27 year fight with EHE, a rare cancer.
He was born July 21, 1962 to Charles and Winifred (Renner) Ferris in Deadwood, South Dakota. He married Gina Derby in 1991, and together they had two children: Andrew and Emily. Andrew was his hunting and fishing buddy, and he always referred to Emily as his princess.
Steve worked at Auer Sawmill, then S.D.D.O.T. until he transferred to Wall in 1997. From 2007-2015, he lived in Douglas, Wyoming and worked as long as he could before succumbing to the pain of his cancer. He then moved to Wall in 2015 where he has since resided.
Andrew and Emily were his life. His main goal was to get better for them. He loved taking them hunting, fishing and out for vanilla shakes. They were always making plans for what they would do when he got better.
Steve had a passion for working in his garden. He loved to hunt and fish and always kept gear in his vehicle in case the opportunity came along. He had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that he adored and always teasing them was his way of letting them know how much they meant to him.
Survivors include two children Andrew and Emily Ferris of Wall; his parents Charles and Winifred Ferris of Deadwood; seven siblings: Wyota Owens of Castle Rock, Colorado, Richard Ferris of Moorcroft, Wyoming, Mary McKillip and her husband Kim of Douglas, Wyoming, Vickie DeVries and her husband Tim of Glenrock, Wyoming, Daniel Ferris and his wife Gwen of Gillette, Wyoming, John Ferris and his wife Robyn of Douglas, Wyoming, and Charlene Eggers and her husband Tim of Lead; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Carrie Ferris; maternal grandparents, Richard and Ruth Renner; niece Kimberley Ferris; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, at the United Methodist Church in Wall with Pastor Russell Masartis officiating.
