Geothermal well work

The scraping work has been in progress to clean out the pipes of the school district’s geothermal well. Casehole Solutions, a C&J Energy Services Company, is doing the work.
According to Superintendent Keven Morehart, the well’s valve was originally stuck in the closed position, then stuck open, with approximately 100 pounds of pressure behind it. The work will include replacing the valves, regardless of anything else.
Two well professionals from Wyoming worked on the well and the well’s shed. The shed was lifted off of the well before the work could continue.
Plans are for the well piping to be scraped so the pipes can be tested through a pinging process for any weak spots. The heavy-duty scraping equipment and pipes are like what is used in Texas and the gulf, rather than what is used in North Dakota. Morehart believed the work will take one to two weeks from when workers started. Shown is the equipment as seen from the high school’s north parking lot.
