Marcia Eymer

Marcia Eymer, age 88, of Spearfish, formerly of Milesville, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Edgewood Assisted Living Center in Spearfish.
Marcia Lee Eymer was born on March 3, 1938, in New Underwood, South Dakota, to Les and Margaret Baker. She grew up in the Philip area and attended Philip Elementary School and High School. During high school, Marcia was a cheerleader and drum majorette. She also attended prom with her high school sweetheart, Don Eymer. Marcia worked at the Gem Movie Theatre during high school and, after graduation, began working at First National Bank in Philip.
Marcia married her high school sweetheart, Donnie Eymer, and together they ventured to Los Angeles, California. Donnie worked as a local truck driver while Marcia worked at a bank. Their first child, Jill, was born while they were living in California.
In 1961, Marcia and Donnie returned to South Dakota and made their home on the family place in Milesville. There, they welcomed their two sons, Tim and Jim Bob. Marcia continued her career at First National Bank, where she was recognized for 24 years of dedicated service.
Marcia and Donnie raised a herd of Herefords and Red Angus cattle, and Marcia took great pride in helping keep the ranch and home running. She loved mowing, planting flowers, gardening, and feeding her cats. She enjoyed baking and crafting and especially loved decorating the church and their home for Christmas. She proudly made banners for the church and often made quilts with friends for baby showers and weddings.
Marcia was a talented and creative seamstress. She made wedding dresses, clothing, and even Barbie doll clothes. She made all of her children’s clothes and could seemingly make or create just about anything.
Marcia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She loved attending rodeos, where she could always be found keeping score, as well as dance recitals and sporting events. She enjoyed playing pitch and cribbage with family and friends, working on puzzles, and doing dot art. She had a deep love for nature and animals, especially cats, chickens, and dogs.
Marcia was also a member of the Ladies Aid and helped decorate Christmas trees for the South Dakota State Capitol in Pierre. She had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything and often said, “All you got to do is…” There truly wasn’t much that Marcia couldn’t do. She even taught Tim and Jim Bob how to shoot a gun!
Her family will always remember her endless supply of gummy bears and Hershey chocolates, along with the many little ways she showed her love. Marcia’s creativity, determination, generosity, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marcia is survived by her children, Jill Eymer of Sturgis; Tim Eymer and his wife, Kim, of Texas; and Jim Bob Eymer and his wife, Kayla, of Milesville; five grandchildren, Heath (Jamie) Williams, Melanie (Nick) Kallander, Brendon Eymer and fiancée Dharma, Brittany (Trey) VanzZuuk, and Evelyn Eymer; four great-grandchildren, Nolan and Jaden Williams and Jolee and Mila Kallander; one sister, Dorie Velder; and many other relatives and friends.
Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie; daughter, Joan Eymer; parents, Les and Margaret Baker; and brother, Jim Baker.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Edgewood and Stillwater Hospice for their compassionate care of Mom and Grandma during her stay there. Their kindness and support will always be remembered and appreciated.
Visitation was held 5-6 p.m. Sunday, September 20, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, at Hardingrove Evangelical Free Church in Milesville.
Interment followed at the Milesville Cemetery.
